Product Description and Principal Function(s) SG3 is the central alarm unit of a truly unique integrated wireless intruder alarm system for residential and small commercial applications. It is designed to provide the best combination of high level security, ease of use and the lowest installation time of any comparable alarm system in the world, allowing it to be readily relocated.SG3 can be installed as a standalone alarm system using only four screws or expanded to protect a very large premises through the addition of a range of peripheral wireless products. The system is controlled by waterproof Radio Keys with separate “On, Off and Panic” buttons. SG3 can also be monitored by a Central Monitoring Station via a peripheral Wireless Dialer, which provides a communications link via a telephone line. SG3 is designed to protect people and property. It can be installed as a local alarm with one or more powerful sirens and a strobe warning light or can be monitored by a central station by adding SG3’s Wireless Dialer interfaced to a telephone line. The design considerations governing the shape of SG3 were primarily driven by functional requirements and perceived value, which dictated the length and the overall size. Safety factors and aesthetic considerations heavily influenced its sleek, rounded lines. SG3’s waterproof Radio Keys are rounded for safety and comfort. They are smooth textured and dark coloured to prevent the buildup and visibility of dirt. The buttons are made of rubber and the Panic button is shrouded to prevent accidental activation. SecurityGuard is sleek, modern and very attractive which enhances its perceived value. The two-tone colour scheme of white and light grey was chosen to be neutral but appealing in any décor. The teardrop shape of the Radio Keys is modern and appealing. SG3 is an inherently safe product by nature. The entire system uses low voltage except for the plug-pack style battery charger, which is mains powered, double insulated and has all necessary approvals. No sharp edges are contained on any external face of the product and all plastics contain a fire retardant. SG3 is designed for American UL listing, which is heavily biased towards safety. The configuration of alarm systems is almost exclusively the same. A basic system comprises of a mains powered control unit which is normally mounted in a linen press or cupboard, a remote wired or wireless keypad or radio keys, a number of wired or wireless detectors and an internal and external siren. SG3 is a unique concept. It is self-contained with all of the necessary elements in a single attractive housing, which usually mounts in a corner. This includes the central processor, a rechargeable battery, a very loud siren, and a Passive Infrared Detector. Unlike other systems, a complete basic alarm system can be installed in minutes or comprehensive protection can be achieved within an hour and because SG3 is battery operated there not even a need for a permanent Mains connection. This configuration offers greater security because every system is an in-built powered “satellite” which cannot be disabled by cutting wires and requires no delayed entry. Customer confusion is a major problem with conventional alarm systems, however SG3 has been provided with a voice to talk to the operator and large illuminated alphanumeric display to provides feedback of events and actions to take via strings of text messages. SG3 can talk in plain English, or any other language as dictated by market requirements. SG3 sets a new benchmark for wireless alarm systems in communications. No other comparable product has a two-way link to a central station via a Radio Dialer. This allows uploading alarm memory events and programming parameters from SG3 to a central station for analysis, and reprogramming where necessary by downloading information back to SG3.
